Healthy Roasted Makhana (Fox Nuts) Snack

A light, crunchy, and guilt-free snack that’s perfect for tea-time or as a mid-day energy booster.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups makhana (fox nuts)

  • 1 tsp ghee or olive oil

  • ½ tsp black pepper powder

  • ½ tsp roasted cumin powder

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder (optional)

  • A pinch of rock salt / pink salt

  • Fresh coriander or curry leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the pan

    • Take a heavy-bottom pan or kadhai.

    • Add 1 tsp ghee or olive oil and let it warm.

  2. Roast the makhana

    • Add makhana to the pan.

    • Roast on low-medium flame for 8–10 minutes, stirring continuously, until they turn crisp.

    • To test: press one between fingers—it should break easily and not feel chewy.

  3. Add spices

    • Sprinkle turmeric, pepper, cumin, and salt.

    • Mix well so spices coat evenly.

  4. Serve

    • Let it cool slightly.

    • Store in an airtight jar for up to 2 weeks.
